Skills Training and Resource Service (STARS) Training Calendar March 2022
STARS training is available throughout March, with priority given to CHSP volunteers and workers from the Canterbury-Bankstown and Inner West Local Government Areas. Topics include volunteer training and networking, and community governance training. Note there is updated information which has not been included in the calendar but is included when clicking the registration links to each session within the calendar. The Department of Health has factsheets for service providers in care and housing, sector support and development, and specialized support services. These fact sheets contain information that will help providers prepare for the CHSP 2022-2023 extension and transition to the Support at Home Program from 1 July 2023.

Community Services Students Available for Potential Workplace Supervisors
Granville TAFE has a number of trained and supervised students from their Diploma of Community Services who are ready to complete their final placement of 100 hours. They can contribute to projects involving quantitative/qualitative research, customer service, and advocacy. Specific work and the scheduling of hours will be negotiated between the student, workplace supervisor and academic supervisor and should ensure adequate opportunities for learning and applying skills.

City of Parramatta Council are offering free exercise programs for residents aged over 55 within the Parramatta Local Government Area, with Term 1 registrations opening at 9am from Monday, 10 January 2022. Activities include mobility, cardio, strength and seniors gentle exercise.
Managing Home Care Through COVID-19 – Resources for Home Care Providers
Home care providers have a wide range of resources and information for managing COVID-19 for care recipients. There is information on state and territory public health orders, COVIDsafe and emergency care plans, signs and symptoms of COVID-19, rapid antigen tests (RAT), financial support and grant opportunities, vaccinations, infection control training, and various factsheets on COVID-19.
Accessible COVID-19 Information
The Department of Health has a range of COVID-19 resources available in Easy Read format, for people with disability as well as others requiring accessible information. Information includes COVID-19 FAQs, preventing the spread, vaccinations, emergency planning, and phone numbers for seeking support.
WILMA Seniors Gentle Exercise Class
Women in Lower Macarthur Area (WILMA) Women’s Health Centre, a local service based in Campbelltown, is offering a free seniors’ gentle exercise class for local senior women, every Thursday until 7 April, from 9.30am to 11.30am.
